: The Department of General Surgery at T S Misra Medical College & Hospital, Amausi, Lucknow was established in 2015. Brig (Prof) R K Shrivastava, Professor of Surgery and Surgical Oncology, AFMC, Pune was the founding Head of the Department of Surgery. After his elevation as Dean/Principal, TSMMCH, in Nov. 2016, Col (Prof) H S Rawat was appointed as the HOD Surgery. 2021 05 PG Post Gradate seats were allotted by NMC and in 2025 02 more seats were added. At present Dr. Mushtaq Ali is Head of department. The Department of General Surgery has since been upgraded and expanded to include various sub-specialties, as under: Oncosurgery Gastrointestinal surgery Urosurgery Reconstructive surgery Neurosurgery Minimally invasive surgery

Prof. (Dr.) Raj Kumar completed his graduation in medicine and post-graduation in general surgery from the GSVM medical college, Kanpur in 1985 and 1990, respectively. He pursued his postdoctoral training (MCh) in Neurosurgery from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi in 1993. He is Ph.D in neuroayurveda from University of Lucknow in 2013. Along with this he also holds various fellowships and Degree like M.R.C.S, F.R.C.S, F.A.S.E.T, F.A.M.S, F.N.S, D.Sc, F.C.M.A, M.A.M.S, M.N.A.Sc. He is a highly accomplished neuroscientist and well known neurosurgeon with more than 33 years of experience in neurosurgical operations and dedicated medical academician of the nation. He has been a faculty member, consultant, HOD, Vice Chancellor and director in reputed institutions across the country, including SGPGI, Lucknow; AIIMS, Rishikesh; UPUMS, Saifai, and Rajendra institute of medical sciences, Ranchi. He has first-hand experience in setting up new medical institute, apex trauma center and upgrading neurosurgical services, along with organisational start-up tasks related to team building, medical training neurosurgery training, and delivering state-of-the-art neurosciences services to the community and country. He has 88 awards including 52 National awards, 16 International awards and 20 Research work awards. The Department performs all Surgeries and Super Specialized surgeries like (Oncosurgery, Neurosurgery, Gastro surgery and Plastic Surgery) to the ailing population of Lucknow, surrounding districts and state.
